▪ Ectomorfas: normalmente, são altas e magras, com pouca gordura corporal e pouco músculo. Se você tem mais dificuldade em ganhar peso e maior facilidade de perder músculo, você provavelmente é ectomorfo.
▪ Mesomorfos: têm mais força, agilidade e velocidade. Geralmente pessoas com características mesomórficas possuem baixos percentuais de gordura corporal e têm facilidade em ganhar massa muscular.
▪ Endomorfos: geralmente têm braços e pernas curtos e uma grande quantidade de massa – tanto gordura quanto massa magra. Ou seja, quem leva uma vida ativa tende a atingir corpos bem definidos, mas o sedentarismo leva ao acúmulo de gordura.

Um dos grandes “perigos” em conhecer a sua estrutura corporal é cair na desculpa do somatotipo. Só porque você se “encaixa mais” em uma categoria, não quer dizer que você não poderá emagrecer, engordar, ganhar ou perder massa magra. A genética faz alguma diferença sim, mas nada supera um bom treino, a alimentação certa e, é claro, muito foco!
